Ten people have been injured during a flight to Portugal following some severe turbulence.

The Hi Fly plane, operating the service on behalf of Angolan airline Taag, landed in Lisbon on Thursday with eight passengers and two crew members injured, one seriously, according to Angolan newspaper O Novo Jornal.

The Airbus A300 even sustained a crack in the roof, according to the publication.

The terrifying moments came several hours into the flight, which departed from the Angolan capital of Luanda, as the aircraft crossed the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Taag said in a statement the situation was due to “adverse weather conditions”.

Emergency crews greeted the aircraft on arrival at Humberto Delgado Airport but according to reports, most of the injured had been tended to with first aid on-board the aircraft.

The seriously injured person was helped by a doctor on board.
