'I rate him highly': Arsenal told sign PL & Serie A duo over Declan Rice & Wilfried Gnonto

Jay Bothroyd has stated on Twitter that he doesn’t want Arsenal to sign Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto and instead they should focus on bringing in a midfielder and a striker during the summer transfer window.

The former Arsenal player added that he wants the Premier League table-topping side to bring in Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister ‘over Declan Rice‘ and Napoli hitman, Victor Osimhen.

There is talk in the early summer transfer rumour mill that Arsenal are looking at Leeds United’s ‘exceptional’ gem, Wilfried Gnonto, but Bothroyd made it clear that wide players aren’t needed by Mikel Arteta.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have 25 Premier League goals between them this term, not forgetting the January arrival of Leandro Trossard, who is lighting the place up, especially with his record-breaking hat-trick of assists.

Of course, if Arsenal wins the Premier League title, not forgetting their return to the Champions League, then it will provide one of English football’s historic clubs to stick their chest out further in the transfer market and boost their squad to even higher levels in the summer.

And former Hale-End star Bothroyd explained that he doesn’t want Rice at ‘£100 million’, even if he rates him ‘highly’, and instead, he thinks World Cup-winner Mac Allister, 24, can be added to the club’s books for ‘£50-60 million’.

BIG SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal are starting to get their glow back and showcase to the world that they are, once again, ready to compete with the best for the long-term, and with it, sign the best of the best.

In truth, what has got the Gunners to a position where they are sitting top of the Premier League hasn’t been ready-made or proven stars.

But players that some may have questioned when they first arrived or highly-rated young stars, such as Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Aaron Ramsdale and William Saliba, to name a few.
