From Sense And Sensibility to Pride And Prejudice, from Emma to beyond, chances are you’ve fallen head over heels for at least one of Jane Austen‘s iconic works across your lifetime.
On the other hand, her manuscript for Sanditon was never completed. Nevertheless, that didn’t dissuade Andrew Davies from developing a British period drama for PBS and ITV from the existing material.
The series began premiering in 2019 in the UK and the following year in the US, immersing audiences in the life of the titular seaside town’s residents with actors from Theo James to Rose Williams crafting an exquisite piece of work.
Upon the release of season 3, however, thoughts have turned promptly to the future. So, let’s contemplate whether Sanditon is renewed for season 4 or not.
Is Sanditon renewed for season 4?
It has already been announced that Sanditon will conclude with its third and final season.
Season 3 began airing on Masterpiece on PBS on Sunday, March 18th 2023, with the season set to be made up of just six installments in total, bringing it to a definitive close on Sunday, April 23rd 2023.
Speaking to Deadline, Susanne Simpson, Masterpiece Executive Producer, offered a statement about the end of the road for the series:
“Sanditon has been an incredibly special series for Masterpiece, and we know it has found its way into the hearts of countless fans. While we are sad to say goodbye to the series, we know our audience has a lot to look forward to in this new season.”

‘One more trip to the seaside’
Belinda Campbell, executive producer for Red Planet Pictures, also offered a statement regarding the final season of Sanditon.
“It’s a thrill to be bringing Sanditon back to audiences for one more trip to the seaside,” she said.
“This third and final season is full of the heart and joyful spirit that viewers will connect with. Our dedicated fans have been absolutely amazing in their support of the show, and we hope they’ll enjoy the conclusion of Charlotte and Georgiana’s stories.”
