Jacqueline Gold is the daughter of ex-West Ham chairman who also died this year

Ann Summers executive chair Jacqueline Gold, who is the daughter of ex-West Ham chairman David Gold, has sadly passed away.

Her sister announced her death in a statement on her Twitter profile, revealing she died on Thursday (March 16) with family by her side.

She courageously battled stage 4 breast cancer for seven years and was a “warrior” throughout her journey, the statement added.

“In life, she was a trailblazer, a visionary, and the most incredible woman, all of which makes this news that much harder to bear.”

She was best known for transforming the lingerie brand into a multi-million-pound business, but Jacqueline Gold isn’t the only famous one in the family…

Jacqueline Gold is the daughter of David Gold

The businesswoman’s father is David Gold, who is best known for being the chairman of Birmingham Football Club and then West Ham.

He owned Gold Group International (GGI), the parent company of the Ann Summers, with his brother Ralph, but bought out his share in 2008.

They also co-owned adult magazine company Gold Star Publications, which included the popular magazine Rustler and Raider.

Plus, he posessed corporate air service Gold Air International, and David Gold had a staggering net worth at the time of his death.

His career as Birmingham and West Ham chairman

Gold was chairman of Birmingham City F.C. for many years before selling his shares in 2009 and stepping down.

His association with the club started in 1993 and he oversaw a hugely successful period in its history with his partner, businessman David Sullivan.

In January 2010, he then acquired a joint 50 percent share in West Ham United with Sullivan before increasing their share to 30 percent each.

Shortly after, his Rolls-Royce was famously attacked by Aston Villa fans outside a pub near the stadium after West Ham won a game.

He also died in 2023

Sadly, David and his daughter both died just two months apart from each other. He passed away on January 4 2023 at the age of 86.

His death was announced by West Ham who said he passed “peacefully” following a short illness, but did not go into detail.

“It is with deep sadness that West Ham United FC confirm that our beloved joint-Chairman David Gold passed away on Wednesday morning following a short illness,” the club said.

“David Gold, 86, died peacefully with his devoted daughters, Jacqueline and Vanessa, and his fiancée Lesley, by his side.”
