Bethenny Frankel denies Gwyneth Paltrow’s fasting promotes disordered eating

Bethenny Frankel doesn’t believe Gwyneth Paltrow can promote disordered eating with a “middle-aged mom” audience.

The former Real Housewive told her Instagram followers Thursday not to “hate” on the Goop creator for eating only bone broth lunches and paleo dinners after intermittent fasts.

“When people are talking about eating disorders … her base isn’t tweens,” Frankel, 52, said while holding a carton of ice cream she promised to eat “soon.”

“My daughter, [Bryn], doesn’t know who Gwyneth Paltrow is,” Frankel continued. “It’s not for 18-year-olds, I think it’s for moms.”

She claimed parents “all know her shtick” and have been hearing it “for years.”

The ex Bravolebrity’s followers expressed mixed feelings for her support of Paltrow in the comments.

“Moms who follow and admire her are just as susceptible to Eating Disorders as the 18 year olds,” one Instagram user pointed out.

Others agreed that disordered eating can occur “at any age.”

One person alleged that the actress’ behavior promotes “unhealthy behaviors, asking Frankel to “send her [the] chicken soup recipe you made the other day.”

However, other users claimed that Paltrow, 50, should not be held “accountable” for her followers’ reactions to her daily diet.

Later in her video, Frankel praised “truthful” Paltrow for “being who she is and who she has always been.”

She asked, “Why does anyone care [what she does]? … I don’t know if you want her to tell the truth or lie.”

After characterizing Paltrow as “the woman who does cupping and ozone therapy up the ass and only ate macrobiotics for years,” she called the “Shakespeare in Love” star a “winner” amid the uproar.

“I would say Gwyneth Paltrow can’t win for losing, but … her brand is doing pretty f–king well,” Frankel concluded.

Paltrow, for her part, has yet to comment on the backlash her “The Art of Being Well” interview caused this week, with many dragging her for sharing “out of touch” wellness tips.

The Oscar winner’s previously garnered backlash this year for her “detox” salad in January and an extravagant Valentine’s Day gift guide the following month.
