Local residents living within the boundaries of Wood Street, Gore Street, Grafton Street and Dragon Street have been told to stay inside and wait for further instruction.
“Police are currently conducting emergency operations in the area and requesting members of the public and aircraft to not attend the declared location,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Police said that a 50-year-old man had been found dead from self inflicted wounds at a property on Elphinstone Drive in Kirwan, near Townsville.
The man had barricaded himself inside the property about 8pm on Sunday after police responded to reports of a disturbance.
