Sony has finally added Discord voice chat to PS5, and PlayStation fans should know how to easily link and connect profiles so they can use the application.
March is a very exciting month for PlayStation gamers. The PS Plus March 2023 free games include Battlefield 2042, Code Vein, and Minecraft Dungeons, and more freebies will be offered to PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers in just a couple of weeks.
While monthly freebies are always fantastic, what’s arguably even better this month is the debut of the long-awaited Discord voice chat on PS5.
How to link and set up Discord on PS5
You need a Discord account in order to link and connect on PS5.
It’s easy and quick to create a profile over on the official register page. Know that you will need to verify your email address after setting up your profile.
Provided you have an account, you can then link your PS5 profile to your Discord. Follow the below steps to set up the link:
- Open Discord
- Select Connections under User Settings
- Click the PlayStation symbol
- Enter your PSN ID
How to use Discord voice chat on PS5
Once you have linked the two together, you can simply follow the below steps to easily use Discord voice chat on PS5:
- Open Discord on your mobile or computer
- Log into your Discord account
- Start or join a voice channel
- Click Join PlayStation
- Select your PS5 console name from the list (make sure your PS5 is turned on)
- A notification should appear on your PS5 saying the voice chat connection has worked
The good news is that Discord also works with Xbox. So you should be able to smoothlessly voice chat with Xbox friends while gaming on your PlayStation.

How to fix not working
Discord voice chat might not be working on your PS5 because you haven’t updated your console.
Your console needs to be fully up-to-date, so make sure your system is updated by following the below steps:
- Go to Settings > System.
- Select System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
- Update Available appears if a newer version is available.
- Select Update System Software to update.
In addition, Discord support says you must link to PSN again if you previously linked the two in the past. If none of this works, then the only other recommendation is to contact the support team.
