Life Without Parole: Convicted Kidnappers of Slain Toddler Kamille McKinney Sentenced

An Alabama couple convicted of kidnapping a Birmingham toddler in 2019 have been sentenced to live in prison without parole.

Patrick Stallworth and his girlfriend, Derick Brown, were found guilty last year on federal kidnapping leading to a death and conspiracy to kidnap charges. On Friday, they received a life sentence for each charge, to be served consecutively, WIAT reported.

The couple still faces state capital murder charges for the death of 3-year-old Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney, who they grabbed from a birthday party, reportedly dumping her body in the trash, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Investigators searched for the little girl for 10 days before finding her body at the Santek Waste Services Landfill in Gardendale.

Stallworth was reportedly handing out candy to children at the party and grabbed the barefoot girl, put her in his car, and drove off.

In court last year, prosecutors said the little girl had methamphetamine in her system, along with the antidepressant Trazodone and Benadryl and that the drug combination contributed to her death. She had been smothered to death.

Forensic pathologist Daniel Dye testified that there was no evidence that the little girl was sexually assaulted.

Trial dates have not been set for the murder charges. In Alabama, the only possible punishments for capital murder, if they’re found guilty, are life in prison or death by lethal injection.
