Former Black Stars’ goalkeeper, Richard Kingston, provided a shoulder to cry on for Sulley Muntari as the Ghanaian football community gathered to commemorate the one week observation of the late Christian Atsu Twasam. The ceremony, which took place on March 4th, 2023, honored the memory of the talented winger, who tragically passed away on February 6th at the young age of 31 in the Turkish earthquake.
Atsu, who played for several European clubs including Porto, Newcastle United, and Malaga, was known for his blistering pace and technical ability on the ball. He also earned 65 caps for the Ghanaian national team and was a key member of the Black Stars squad that reached the quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The football community in Ghana has been deeply saddened by Atsu’s untimely death, and the one week observation is a chance for his friends, family, and colleagues to come together and pay their respects. It was during this emotional gathering that Muntari, a former teammate of Atsu’s, broke down in tears and was comforted by Kingston.
