Stuttgart are yet to receive an ‘official’ bid for Konstantinos Mavropanos as Premier League duo Leeds United and Nottingham Forest eye the former Arsenal man, the Bundesliga club’s sporting director tells BW24.
At the age of 25, Mavropanos is one of the more experienced members of a callow VFB squad; the youngest in the whole of Germany’s top flight.
His nous and presence will be integral to Stuttgart’s hopes of survival too. The 2007 Bundesliga champions are in freefall under Bruno Labbadia, and relegation will almost certainly see the vultures pick the bones of a Stuttgart carcass for tasty morsels such as Borna Sosa, Serhou Guirassy and the aforementioned Mavropanos.

Nottingham Forest, Kicker say, are willing to pay around £17 million. Steve Cooper’s side could face competition from Leeds United – presuming both sides are still first-division teams come the summer.
According to German reporter Christian Falk, Mavropanos is high on Leeds’ radar.
Both Leeds and Forest reportedly showed an interest in January too, but Stuttgart are yet to receive what sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth describes as an ‘official’ offer.

Will Leeds or Nottingham Forest bring Mavropanos back to England?
“There is no official request for Konstantinos Mavropanos,” Wohlgemuth says.
The 6ft 4ins Greece international has come on leaps and bounds since that short-lived spell at Arsenal. Despite Stuttgart’s struggles, Mavropanos remains one of the Bundesliga’s most eye-catching ball-playing centre-halves; those marauding runs into midfield a major part of his game.
With seven since the start of last season, Mavropanos is also a reliable source of goals from defence.
“I haven’t seen a performance like this,” Gunners legend Ian Wright said back in 2018; a teenage Mavropanos shining on his Arsenal debut against Manchester United.
“The anticipation, the pace, the awareness. You could put him up against Diego Costa, he looked like he was up for the battle. He’s fearless and has the exuberance of youth.”
