Popular VR gamer EddieVR has fallen victim to an online death hoax that has some fans convinced he is dead. However, it is not true.
Death hoaxes are becoming increasingly more prevalent thanks to social media. A simple tweet or TikTok about the loss of a public figure can have a ripple effect, raising genuine concerns for their wellbeing.
At the end of last year, Arnold Schwarzenegger fell victim to such a death hoax. This month, Simon Cowell also became a target. Now, popular gamer and video streamer EddieVR has joined the club of well-known figures facing cruel rumors about the status of their health.

No, EddieVR is not dead
This month sees a cruel death hoax claiming EddieVR is dead making the rounds. This is not true, as EddieVR has posted several times across his social media platforms, hinting he is still alive and well.
On Sunday, February 26, Eddie’s wife, Gabrielle, was posting to her social media accounts suggesting that all is well at home. Eddie posted a video to his second YouTube channel the same day.
The death hoax started trending after a TikTok sound was created which included narration talking about the alleged death of EddieVR. The original video creator has confirmed that it was intended as a funny post or a joke. However, it doesn’t seem to have gone down well with people online. “That’s not funny I was bout to start crying,” one user commented on the original video.
Eddie and his wife are alive and well
Although EddieVR has yet to address the death hoax, his recent social media posts suggest that he is alive and well. Eddie, born Eduardo on March 7, 1992, is currently in preparation for his nuptials.
The 30-year-old Mexican YouTuber, who is based in the United States, is engaged to Gabrielle Anderson, a fellow gaming content creator.
Earlier this month, Eddie shared a happy picture with Gabrielle, revealing that they would be getting married in a snowy mountainous landscape “soon.” Eddie added that it was a “dream come true” to be marrying Gabrielle.
