Report: Ivan Fresneda planning talks with his agents as Arsenal and Newcastle plan moves

Arsenal and Newcastle United still want Ivan Fresneda and the Real Valladolid defender is planning to hold meetings about his future this summer.

That’s according to the London Evening Standard, who claim that a four-way battle for Fresneda is already developing.

It’s claimed that Arsenal remain interested after chasing Fresneda in January.

It looked like the Gunners were pressing ahead with a move but an injury to Mohamed Elneny meant Arsenal focused on a midfielder instead, signing Jorginho on deadline day.

Newcastle are still in the fight too whilst Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are expected to fight it out for the Spaniard this summer as well.

Fresneda is planning to speak with his representatives at the end of the season, shelving questions about his future until then.

All interested clubs will be trying to position themselves for a deal until then with Fresneda already a man in demand.

Who is Arsenal and Newcastle target Ivan Fresneda?

Fresneda, who doesn’t turn 19 until September, was born in Madrid and even spent four years in the Real Madrid ranks as a kid.

Fresneda ended up leaving Madrid aged 13 though and moved on to Leganes before joining Valladolid in 2020.

Now a first-team player, Fresneda has made 10 league appearances in La Liga this season, playing as a right back throughout.

Valladolid boss Pacheta has called Fresneda ‘fantastic’ and the teenager has been turning heads with his performances in Spain.

Fresneda has also picked up five caps for Spain Under-19’s and will no doubt target senior appearances in the future.

Arsenal do have a couple of options at right back with Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu both competing for that role.

The Gunners also have high hopes for a young right back in Brooke Norton-Cuffy, but could still push to land Fresneda.

A £26.5million release clause allegedly exists in Fresneda’s contract but Arsenal will be looking to bring that price down this summer.
