Julie Chrisley frustrated by Todd’s lies before prison sentencing

Julie Chrisley was frustrated by husband Todd Chrisley’s lies over renovation plans before they were sentenced to prison for fraud and tax evasion.

In Monday’s Season 10 premiere of “Chrisley Knows Best,” the family matriarch, 50, said that “being married to Todd means you’re never gonna call a place home for very long.”

The family had just moved into their third home in just one year, which Julie “only” agreed to “because it was turnkey.”

However, upon arriving, she discovered that her husband, 53, had completely gut-renovated the property.

“Julie, listen, it’s like if you go have your eyes done. Then you realize you need to have your neck done and then you need to have an upper lift and a lower lift,” Todd explained when she demanded to know why he had suddenly changed the plans without telling her.

Julie, however, wasn’t buying it.

“Why did you lie to me?” she asked him, to which her husband responded, “OK, let’s find a question that’s a little easier.”

Elsewhere in the episode, the couple’s eldest kids — Savannah, 25, and Chase, 26 — discussed the incident with their mom, who said they hadn’t seen her “this upset in a long time.”

Julie, however, told them that she was over “over it.”

“I feel like we are at a stage of our life where we need to find where we’re gonna settle. I want Grayson to be settled the last few years he’s at home before he goes to college. Chloe is 9. She likes stability, not doing a house and selling it and moving to another one and selling it,” she added, referring to their 16-year-old son, Grayson, and their adopted daughter, Chloe.

She concluded by pointing out that, ultimately, what upset her most was that her husband had lied to her.

Despite being filmed in the fall of 2022, the premiere didn’t acknowledge the pair’s legal woes. The duo was indicted on fraud and tax evasion charges in August 2019 and was later found guilty of the crimes in June 2022.

Julie is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. while Todd has to serve 12 years at the Federal Prison Camp, Pensacola in Florida.

Although both are currently behind bars, they have maintained their innocence and filed to appeal their convictions.

Savannah recently offered an inside look at her parents’ lives in their respective prison environments.

“My mom, she’s honestly doing really well, and I know it sounds crazy for me to say that like it’s crazy for me to say, ‘Alright they’re doing really well,’ but they are,” the couple’s eldest daughter said on her “Unlocked” podcast last week.

The reality TV star told her listeners that her mom has “made friends” and is “keeping busy.”

“She’s going to church, she’s working, she’s playing some Spades — and when I tell you she’s playing, she’s running a dog on everyone.”

Meanwhile, Todd has been “absolutely amazing” in encouraging his fellow inmates to “know Jesus,” Savannah said.

“He is working in the chapel, which is absolutely amazing, and I could never be more proud of my dad and the man that he is,” she gushed.

“I get to hear all these people’s stories and how he’s affecting their life and encouraging change … This isn’t the ideal situation, but we find strength in knowing that this isn’t the end.”

“Chrisley Knows Best” airs Mondays at 11 p.m. ET on USA Networks.
