One of the twins rescued after a desperate search when they were taken in their mother’s stolen car last month has died.
Ky’air Thomass died shortly before midnight on Saturday, the Columbus Division of Police said, according to WCMH.
Police said they responded to a report of a baby not breathing, a division spokesperson said, and the boy was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ky’air and his brother Kason, then five months old, were in the back seat of their mother’s car on December 19 swhen it was stolen while she ran into a pizza restaurant to pick up an order, as CrimeOnline reported.
A few hours later, Ky’air was found in the parking lot at Dayton International Airport, 70 miles from where the twins were abducted. There was no sign of Kason.
Investigators announced the arrest of the suspect, Nalah Jackson, in Indianapolis on December 22, and a few hours later, the two women who alerted police to Jackson tracked down the missing car — with Kason inside — outside an Indianapolis pizza restaurant.
Jackson faces federal and state kidnapping charges.

Family members told WSYX that baby Ky’air died after choking during feeding.
“She’s doing really bad right now,” Wilma Booker said of the twins’ mother, Wilhelmina Barnett. “While I wasn’t exactly right there when it happened, my kids were there. Momo (the twins’ mother’s nickname) was feeding the babies, and one of them started choking on the milk and that’s what happened. She immediately called 911, trying to do chest compression and CPR things to get the baby back at that time. It was just like an accident that happened from feeding the babies and that was it.”
Police sold WSYX they were still investigating the incident.
