On July 27, 1992, Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson was born in Brampton, Ontario, to Curacao-born Luella and Bajan-born Sonstar. Initially residing in Montreal, the family later relocated to Miami, Florida. After his mother passed away, his father started working as an ordained priest and missionary, which required them both to frequently relocate around the country. Later, the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, after Daystar’s father wed again. Daystar initially met his friend Hakeem there, who was working as a janitor at the time.
Career
2009 saw the release of Tory Lanez’s debut mixtape. While still residing in South Florida, Lanez started directing some of his music videos, which were then uploaded to his YouTube profile. After watching a video of Lanez freestyling to Lloyd Banks’ Bentley, Benz, or Beamer, Sean Kingston became intrigued by him. On August 14, 2014, he released a song titled “The Mission” to kick off his tour after releasing several songs from the series. In connection with the debut of the mixtape Lost Cause, Lanez launched his debut headlining tour, the Lost Cause Tour.
Controversy
In 2010, rapper Lanez, who was thought to be linked to Drake, challenged Drake in a video on YouTube. He dispels these misconceptions and announces the $10,000 challenge in the video.
