NSW Police said their initial investigation suggested there were no suspicious circumstances but revealed nothing else about her cause of death.

”Officers from Newcastle Police District have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” NSW Police said.

A Woolworths spokesperson said they were providing support to the woman’s family and team members.

”We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident and our thoughts are with the woman’s loved ones at this difficult time,” the spokesperson said.

“We are assisting SafeWork NSW and NSW Police as well as working with our contract cleaning partner.”

The store is currently closed while police conduct their investigation.

The woman was an employee of a third-party cleaning firm, which is contracted to provide cleaning services in the store.
