Travellers are flocking from all over the country to dine at a Kangaroo Island restaurant appropriately named ‘The Enchanted Fig Tree’, which is visible only once guests walk inside a hidden entrance.
For more than a century the vines have grown to naturally create ‘room-like spaces’ suitable for guests to sit comfortably and eat a meal.
It is open on selected days for lunch during spring and summer and can seat up to 45 diners but those who wish to visit can only do so between November 10, 2022 and April 10, 2023.

As guests walk through entrance they’re guided through the fig leaves by a green path that leads to the ‘magical’ dining area complete with wooden chairs and tables.
The menu has been curated by executive chef Stephanie Vass and incorporates a ‘hint of local history, a splash of fairy tale, and a sprinkle of the unexpected’.
The venue Gastronomo Dining shared photos of popular meals on Instagram – including the modern twist on fish and chips.

Guests are served King George whiting with salt bush butter, island potatoes, fennel, broccolini, and seeds, which looked extravagant and delicious.
Inside the tree it’s usually two or three degrees cooler than the outside and there’s no cover from rain or wind.
But the one of a kind experience comes at a price of $175 per person, which includes a gin cocktail on arrival.
