Daniella Vizzini noticed the venomous brown snake slithering through her Lalor backyard yesterday.
The reptile was metres away from two-year-old Eva who was splashing in the pool completely and utterly oblivious to the danger.
Vizzini told Today she was on the phone to her friend when she saw something out of the corner of her eye.
At lightning speed she jumped up and grabbed Eva by the arm, pulling her to safety.
“We were shocked and quite scared actually,” she said.
“It was a split-second moment really. And the reaction that just shocked us all.

“Before I knew it I was yanking Eva out of the water so far. It was terrifying.”
Eastern brown snakes are Australia’s second most venomous land snake, and an untreated bite can kill in under half an hour.
Th mum previously claimed the snake was “ready to strike” Eva.
“I’ve just screamed ‘Snake! Snake!”.
“We definitely have got an issue with the grass at the moment around the area.”
