The tragedy came just a few days after he’d posted online: “My life is perfect.”

At the special service, his father Brett described his son as his best mate.

“His positivity was infectious and he would always take the time to make everyone feel special by listening,” he said.

In the stands was coach Wayne Bennett, who had seen his potential.

Known as Hampo, he was also remembered as a loyal friend, a teacher’s aide at the local high school, and a spiritual young man in the prime of his life.
