Shocking surveillance footage shows a trio of thieves smash their way into a high-end New York City jewelry store before ransacking cases filled with pricey gems and watches worth an estimated $500,000. NYPD are now searching for the men who burgled Cellini jewelers on elite Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan around 3.30am on Saturday.
The dramatic surveillance footage released by cops shows the gang smash their way into the store by breaking down the store’s glass doors.
They then use hammers to break through glass cabinets and smash them to ground as they scramble to gather jewels and watches as quickly as possible, and stuff them into black bags.
The trio then flee the store with cops saying they made their getaway in a silver sedan which was seen spreeing east on East 56th St, an NYPD spokesperson said. The luxury items listed on Cellini jeweler’s website can go for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The most expensive listed is a vintage diamond bracelet (pictured) for $865,000, but the range also includes diamond petal earrings that go for $12,000 and a Girard-Perregaux tourbillon watch that has an estimated value of $172,000, according to Cellini’s website.
NYPD are now offering a reward of up to $3,500 for information that could lead cops to identifying the burglars. Despite the robbery, the store still opened for business on Saturday morning.
The early Saturday morning burglary is just the latest burglar that has seen the Big Apple rot amid soaring crime rates, which has risen 31.8 percent to date since 2021. Driving the increase is a more than 35 percent surge in robberies, and a 32.4 percent rise in burglaries.
Felony assaults are also up 15 percent over last year, while grand larcenies are up a whopping 43 percent. New York City’s shopping districts – including Soho and the West Village – have been under siege by robbers and looters, while law enforcement have been slammed for their lax approach to the crimes.
