A 2-year-old Oklahoma boy has been found dead after disappearing from his family’s home early Monday morning, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.
Ares Muse was found deceased in Okfuskee County Monday, around half a mile from his home, police said. The child’s father told police that the boy climbed into the family at around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning. When the family woke up at 6 a.m., the child was gone.
After a 12-hour search conducted by over 20 area law enforcement agencies, the child’s body was found at around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Police continue to investigate the death but so far, have not said whether foul play was involved. They declined to say how he died.
“We talked all day long about wanting a good outcome, and we didn’t get that,” Jason Salsman, Muscogee (Creek) Nation Press Secretary, said during a news conference, according to News 6. “After a long day and an extensive search with over 20 plus agencies involved, I have the unfortunate responsibility to let everyone know that we did find the boy. Unfortunately, we found him deceased.”
Salsman added that the family said Ares unlocked three locks on a door in order to get out.
