A manhunt has commenced for the driver who left two people seriously injured on the street after a hit and run in Brisbane on Friday night.

Vision has emerged of a 39-year-old woman and 27-year-old man left sprawled out and unable to move on Bay Terrace at Wynnum.

At about 11pm, witnesses watched and filmed as the driver got out of the car for a short time, only to be seen racing back to the car in an attempt to flee the scene, described as “carnage”.

Bystanders rushed to the victims aid and attempted to make a citizens arrest of the person responsible for the hit and run.

A third pedestrian who was with the pair at the time and managed to escape being hit called for help.

He can be heard in the video shouting to a witness that “an Uber driver just hit us” and at “full speed”.

Police said the person responsible for the hit and run abandoned the car a short time after escaping the scene on Wynnum Esplanade North.

The two people were taken to hospital in serious conditions.

Police are appealing for the person responsible to turn themselves in, and for anyone with any dash cam or CCTV to contact police.
