15-Year-Old Boy Kills Aunt, Uncle, & Grandmom at Birthday Party

A 15-year-old North Carolina boy is facing criminal charges for allegedly fatally shooting his aunt, uncle, and grandmother on Tuesday.

A 10-year-old in Trotter’s Ridge reportedly called 911, leading police to the bodies of Danny Richards and Sabrina Richards, 57 and 54. The man’s mother, Clara Richards, 74, who was also found wounded at the scene, died the next day at the hospital, according to WRAL.

The child who placed the 911 call was unharmed. Harnett County police said the suspect is Danny and Sabrina Richards’ 15-year-old nephew — with relatives telling WRAL that the couple took him in to give him a better life.

A motive was not disclosed.

The teen boy allegedly fled the scene after Tuesday’s shooting, but police eventually apprehended him in a wooded area in Harnett County.

WNCN reported that the deadly shooting occurred at Sabrina Richards’ birthday party. She and her husband are Army veterans, while her husband is also a bishop.

“This right here is a nightmare. It’s a nightmare. It’s still so hard to believe,” a member of his church commented.

The teen boy is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. He remains held at a detention center.

The boy has not been publicly identified due to his age. It is unclear whether he will be charged as an adult for the triple slayings.
