Experience Arizona's red rocks and the exciting tunnel tradition on the scenic Verde Canyon Railroad

CLARKDALE, Ariz. — While most train rides are just a straight shot from point A to B, the Verde Canyon Railroad invites you to slow down and savor the journey.

Departing from Clarkdale, Arizona, this vintage train offers a 40-mile round-trip through some of the states most breathtaking backcountry.

Passengers are treated to panoramic views of towering red rocks, lush landscapes along the Verde River and historic bridges and trestles.

The ride includes both indoor seating and open-air viewing cars, perfect for every kind of traveler, whether you’re there to relax in comfort or catch the breeze.

One highlight is a 734-foot tunnel carved straight through the rock. Tradition says you’re supposed to let out a good holler as the train echoes through.

Some of the red rock formations are even rumored to have inspired the design of Radiator Springs at the Disney California Adventure theme park.

If you’re looking for a scenic excursion, hop aboard the Verde Canyon Railroad and get ready to relax and unwind.
