Hit-and-run driver kills 22-year-old man in SW Side crosswalk: CPD

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday in the 5400-block South Kedzie Avenue in Gage Park, Chicago police said.

CHICAGO (WLS) — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in a crosswalk on Chicago’s Southwest Side early Saturday morning, police said.

Police said the crash happened in the Gage Park neighborhood’s 5400-block South Kedzie Avenue just after 3:20 a.m.

The driver of a gray vehicle was heading northbound when they ignored a traffic signal and went through the crosswalk, hitting a 22-year-old man, police said.

The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.

The driver fled the scene, and no one is in custody, police said.

Area One detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information.
