A 12-year-old boy has been assaulted and threatened with a gun during a terrifying armed home invasion in south-west Sydney.
Police were called to an Ardennes Avenue home in Edmondson Park at about 1.45am on Monday.
Three balaclava-clad intruders armed with a gun stormed into the home, where they threatened and assaulted a 48-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy.
The man suffered facial injuries during the incident. The boy was not injured.
A second boy, 11, was also at home at the time but was unharmed.
The thieves raided the home and stole multiple items, including jewellery, before fleeing in an unknown getaway vehicle.
Fortunately, the father sustained only minor injuries, and the children are being supported by family and authorities.
