Stevie Nicks has a dedicated group of fans. Lindsey Buckingham’s girlfriend said she understood what they see in her.
Lindsey Buckingham’s ex-girlfriend, Carol Ann Harris, could recall in vivid detail the first time she saw Stevie Nicks. She met the members of Fleetwood Mac while working as a studio manager and quickly fell for Buckingham. Even though Harris knew Nicks was her future partner’s ex, she couldn’t help but feel drawn in by her.

Buckingham and Harris were immediately drawn to each other, and the pull grew stronger after he broke up with Nicks. The day after he told Harris about it, though, she met Nicks.
“The day after Lindsey told me about breaking up with Stevie, I was sitting on the floor in the reception room of Studio B when a tiny hummingbird of a woman brushed past me in a blaze of color, on a cloud of patchouli and ylang-ylang,” she wrote in her book Storms: My Life With Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac. “I stared. I’d never seen anything so bright and dynamic before, so compelling, so intensely certain of the vibe she created.”
Nicks immediately launched into a description of her most recent vacation. While Harris could have felt awkward knowing this was the ex-girlfriend of the man she was interested in, she only felt starstruck.
“I’d just met Stevie Nicks,” Harris wrote. “She was without a doubt the most mesmerizing woman I’d ever encountered. I didn’t need to be told that she was a star. Her light was blinding. People gathered around. I sat transfixed, still on the floor, looking up at this five-foot-nothing exquisite firebrand.”
