Virtue Signaling or Fence Sitting? Florida Mayor Refuses to Sign — or Veto — Immigration Bill

Dogs and cats, liberals and conservatives, coming together.

We did that with the liberal wing of the Republican Party on November 5th, 2024.

And we’ve played nice with them for decades of getting the short end of the stick.

Just when things are starting to move in our direction, and we’re seeing real progress on OUR goals?

The ones we’ve voted for and been promised and then watched as people like Paul Ryan *spits* screwed us over every time?

Oh, no, chica. Stomp your foot all you want, but homey ain’t playin’ nice anymore.

Liberal and conservative politics are coming together to support a bill that they say will fix a broken immigration system.

South Florida Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar crossed the aisle in Congress to team up with Democratic Congresswoman Veronica Escobar of Texas to propose “The Dignity Act of 2025.” It was initially introduced in 2023, but it didn’t go anywhere.

“No more need to choose between amnesty and deportation, the Dignity Bill is the answer,” Salazar said.

She said immigration is the shadow looming over the economy.

“It takes a lot of courage to step up to say that you want to be part of the solution,” Salazar said.

The president recently signed the “big beautiful bill” that sets aside $150 billion to secure the border. But Zalazar said it doesn’t solve the situation of more than 10 million undocumented migrants.

Shame on you.

And the weak sisters you’ve got to go along with you.

Every last one of the turncoats signing on to this abomination needs to be primaried and, while they’re still in Congress, should be forced to wear a scarlet letter ‘A‘ of shame for ‘amnestarian.’

Look at everything that’s in this monstrosity and tell me it isn’t a duck for waddling and quacking like one.

Yay! A new, uncapped temporary visa program!

Yay! Family members are exempt!

Oh, YAY! Dreamers and TPS (temporary protected status) are IMMEDIATELY PROTECTED AND STREAMLINED FOR LEGAL STATUS!

Oh, GOSH! Let’s see who that would IMMEDIATELY keep in the country, shall we?

Why, for starters, the almost one million people POTATUS allowed to stay in the country right before Trump’s inauguration.

The Biden administration announced Friday it would extend temporary deportation relief to nearly 1 million people from El Salvador, Sudan, Ukraine and Venezuela, just days before Donald Trump enters the White House with a vow to restrict the program.

The move allows people from these countries who currently have Temporary Protected Status to renew work permits and deportation protections — extending the program for El Salvador until March 2026 and Sudan, Ukraine and Venezuela until October 2026. The TPS designation, created by Congress in 1990, has been used by presidents from Republican and Democratic administrations to offer legal reprieve to people from countries struck by natural disaster, armed conflict or other “extraordinary and temporary conditions.”

One can never have too many Venezuelan gang members. They’re such fun at parties.

This isn’t going to go over well in some neighborhoods if Secretary Noem’s earlier status reversal doesn’t hold up. They thought the Haitians were leaving.

Biden administration extends temporary legal status to 300,000 Haitians\

About 300,000 Haitians already in the United States will now be eligible for temporary legal status allowing them to remain in the U.S. and work because conditions in the strife-torn Caribbean nation are considered unsafe for them to return, the Homeland Security Department said Friday.

The decision marks a major expansion of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians and won praise from many in the Haitian and immigration advocacy community.

Those are just a few of the delightful guests who have taken up residence in our country thanks to Biden who would become permanent immediately if Salazar and her coconspirators get their way. Pew Research estimates that there may be over a million of them since POTATUS handed them out like candy to get as many illegals from wherever in the country as expeditiously as possible.

Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, his administration has greatly expanded the number of immigrants who are eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) – a designation that gives them time-limited permission to live and work in the United States and avoid potential deportation.

The federal government offers TPS to qualifying immigrants who live in the U.S. and come from selected nations that are deemed unsafe to return to because of war, natural disasters or other crises.

Advocates have been fighting the Trump administration’s efforts to rescind every bogus TPS designation tooth and nail.

And here is a so-called Republican wanting to bless every last one of them with the brass ring grab of a lifetime.

No, dammit. NO.

So far, Trump is holding firm.

The rest of them had better, too.

We have seen this movie play at the cheapest theater in town time and time again, and the ending always sucks for us.

This time, we’re changing the script.
