Prince Harry and King Charles haven’t spoken to each other for some time. However, their senior aides were spotted having a meeting in London about that.
On July 9, a rep for the king and reps for the Sussexes were photographed at the Royal Over-Seas League together. The photos published in the Daily Mail showed the duke’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, as well as Liam Maguire, who runs Harry and Meghan’s U.K. public relations team, meeting with Tobyn Andreae, the king’s communications secretary.
The Palace is now reportedly questioning who leaked the details of that private meet-up, disclosing the location, the timing, and the nature of the meeting to the press.
Harry and Meghan are denying it was them with someone from their team telling The Telegraph that the photos appearing in the news were “a disastrous start” to what was meant to be a “quiet step towards reconciliation.” And now, the whole thing is being downplayed and called an “informal meeting” with the senior advisors, and nothing to do with negotiating any type of “peace summit” as the two sides just had “things they wanted to talk about.”
So what’s really going on? Did the reps at least look like they were making progress? Here’s what an expert picked up on when looking at those photographs.
Sign that Prince Harry and King Charles’ reps aren’t seeing eye to eye on things
Inbaal Honigman is a body language expert and celebrity psychic astrologer who has been reading Tarot since the ’90s. She has appeared in media for more than 20 years, giving her predictions for Big Brother’s Little Brother, Elle Magazine, and talkSPORT radio to name a few. Also, before King Charles revealed publicly that he had cancer, Honigman accurately predicted that the monarch would develop an “illness” that would “become public knowledge via an official announcement.”
Honigman analyzed the photos taken of the royals’ reps. Speaking on behalf of Fruity King, she told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “The two reps do not mirror each other’s body language at all, which suggests that they have very different communication styles. This is likely their first meeting in person to discuss the royal reunion, and they’ll require more meetings to reach an acceptable agreement. Their non-verbal cues are so diametrically different that it would suggest that they don’t see eye to eye at this stage.”
What else the expert noticed about their interactions
Honigman further explained what she saw from each party in the published photos, noting that the king’s rep showed “signs of dominance.”
According to the expert, “During their little summit, Harry and Meghan’s rep Meredith Maines uses quite ‘closed off’ body language. Her legs are crossed, and her hands are gathered in front of her in a protective pose. She’s keeping her cards close to her chest and is being secretive with the king’s rep. She leans deeply towards King Charles’ representative, which shows that she’s more submissive and he’s more dominant. He’s running the show here.”
Honigman also observed that the king’s rep is expected to “find a solution.”
“The king’s communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae, on the other hand employs quite frank and honest body language,” Honigman said. “His feet are uncrossed, firm on the ground, and his hands are by his sides, like a man who’s got nothing to hide.
“He’s not there to play games, he’s there to find a solution, and his ‘open’ body language confirms that he’s in charge. In fact, in one of the pictures we see Andreae’s hand placed, palm down, on the table in front of him, as if he’s tapping the table, which shows that he means business. It is a slightly impatient gesture that reveals that he’d like to go back to the office with at least a first draft of a plan.”
Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
