Texas Woman Charged in Plot to Kill Ex-Husband With Fentanyl Laced Chocolates

A Texas woman was indicted last week for attempting to kill her ex-husband with poisoned chocolates.

An arrest affidavit says that Pamela Stanley drove to a motel in Weatherford on May 30 to pick up fentanyl she had bought for the plan, KXAS reported. She didn’t realize, however, that she’d made the sale with an undercover investigator.

According to the affidavit, a “complainant” tipped off investigators that “a female subject had called them stating that she had developed a plan to kill her ex-husband with powder fentanyl.”

Officials said Stanley “further planned to mail it to her ex-husband, making it appear to have been from a travel agency as a congratulatory gift for his recent engagement, along with a ‘honeymoon’ incentive offer.”

Jeffrey Kauth, the ex-husband, said “it was a pretty ingenious plan.”

“I would have probably ate the chocolates. My fiancé would have ate the chocolate, but even worse, we have two minor children here,” he said. “I’m sure they would have eaten some as well, and she has no remorse.”

Kauth said he and Stanley were divorced in 2019, “but she’s just been angry since.”

Kauth said his former wife “has made lots of texts, numerous texts and threatening situations” since the divorce, prompting him to install flood lights and surveillance cameras on his property.

Stanley was indicted on July 11 on charges of solicitation to commit murder and criminal attempt to commit murder. She was further charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

She has been behind bars for more than a month on a $550,000 bond.

Parker County District Attorney Jeff Swain said Stanley faces up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if she’s convicted.
