Girl’s ‘Mummified’ Body Found in Hotel Room as Mom Claims ‘God Is With Her’

A Tennessee woman was arrested last week after her daughter’s body was reportedly found in her hotel room.

Shelby County deputies performing a welfare check at the Home Inn Suites on July 10 allegedly discovered Kimberly Moore’s daughter’s body. According to WMC, a mental health evaluation was ordered for Moore, 46, who was charged with abusing her daughter’s corpse and failing to report her death.

A hotel manager called the police on Moore, who claimed her husband owned the hotel and that she was staying there to ensure the employees were doing their job.. Alarms were raised, however, when deputies smelled an odor coming from her room, according to WHBQ.

Moore reportedly denied smelling the odor before deputies discovered her daughter, Chloe Moore, lying unresponsive on the hotel bed. Police said the girl appeared mummified and malnourished.

Arresting police officers determined that Kimberly Moore was experiencing a mental health crisis. She refused to answer questions regarding her daughter, stating she “is still here with her” and “God is with her and her daughter,” according to WHBQ.

WMC reported that investigators have not ruled out foul play in Chloe Moore’s death. Her cause of death remains undetermined as of Tuesday.

Kimberly Moore is due back in court on Tuesday. She remains jailed on $5,000 bond.
