Developing: Georgia Teen Charged with First-Degree Murder Nearly 5 Months After Mother and Stepfather’s Deaths

Police in Georgia have charged a 17-year-old girl with the February murders of her mother and stepfather in Tyus, a rural community near Carrollton.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Sarah Grace Patrick, the daughter of 36-year-old Kristen Brock and stepdaughter of James Brock, 45, is facing two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said that Patrick turned herself in at the county jail Tuesday morning, months after allegedly calling 911 to report the killings.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Patrick contacted emergency services on February 20 after her 6-year-old sister found the couple shot inside their residence in the 1500 block of Tyus Carrollton Road. Police stated there were no signs of a break-in at the residence, but one of the doors had been left open.

“We don’t know what goes through the mind of a child who wants to harm their parents,” Ashley Hulsey, a spokesperson for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, said during a Tuesday press conference.

“She’s 17. She’s kind of been out on her own. She’s lived with different family members and moved all over the place”

“A big takeaway from this story — a mother and stepfather will never be able to raise their children,” Hulsey continued. “I believe he was waiting on a heart transplant at some point. And to have life cut short…”

A motive for the killings is currently unknown.

The story is developing. Check back for updates.
