Footage from inside a jail captured a brawl at a New South Wales jail in February has resulted in five people being charged.

Officers were called to Bathurst Correctional Centre at 9.30am on Saturday, February 8 following reports of a fight between two male inmates and three visitors.

One Corrective Services Officer was caught in the crush, leaving him hospitalised with a broken arm.

All five were arrested at the facility and later charged.

A 32-year-old man and two women, aged 32 and 28, were charged with affray.

The older woman was also charged with common assault.

The two male inmates, aged 29 and 36, were also charged with affray.

All five have appeared before court and four of them are due to reappear at Bathurst Local Court tomorrow.

The woman, 32, is expected to appear in court on August 20.

Nicole Jess, president of the Public Service Association, told 9News the incident in February doesn’t come as a surprise and highlights the need for more resources.

“Like the police, we’re desperately short with correctional officers,” she said.

”We’ve seen a huge spike in the number of inmate population, many centres are now struggling.”
