A Kellyville street remains a crime scene after shots were fired into home on Tuesday morning

Shots have been fired into a Sydney home where a young family was sleeping.

Police were called to Janamba Avenue, Kellyville in the city’s north-west shortly after 3am on Tuesday following reports that up to six shots had been fired into a window of the home.

A man and woman aged in their 30s and a two-year-old toddler were inside sleeping at the time but were unharmed.

Bullets caused damage to the front door and windows of the home.

Firefighters were called to nearby Gorman Avenue in the same suburb, 2.1km away, a short time later after an abandoned car was spotted on fire.

The car was destroyed in the blaze.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Detectives are investigating whether the fire is linked to the earlier drive-by shooting.

It’s the third drive-by shooting across Sydney within a fortnight.
