Magan Mourad and Dayna Mathews put their relationship to the test in season 2 of Netflix’s The Ultimatum: Queer Love. But they may not have been prepared for the scrutiny that came with signing on for the reality dating show.
Magan and Dayna’s messy relationship caused major drama in ‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’ Season 2

Magan, 27, had been with Dayna, 25, for a year and a half when she received an ultimatum from her girlfriend. Dayna was ready to make a lifetime commitment to Magan. But Magan wasn’t sure she was ready for marriage, especially because it could cause a permanent rift with her traditional Lebanese family, who’ve been unwilling to accept her identity as a queer woman.
Not only was Magan not sure she was ready for marriage, but she wasn’t even sure she was ready for The Ultimatum. Early on in the show, she seriously considered backing out before Dayna convinced her to stay. She loosened up during her trial marriage with Haley, with whom she formed a serious connection. Meanwhile, Dayna was vibing with her trial wife, Mel. (They even got matching tattoos after knowing each other just a few weeks.) Dayna’s obvious chemistry with Mel led to one of this season’s biggest scandals, when Magan accused Danya of sleeping with her Mel. Her evidence? Dayna and Mel’s shared Spotify “sex playlist” that she stumbled onto and which contained “our song.” Yikes.
“Now I feel like we have no sacredness together,” Magan – who had also had sex with Haley – told Dayna. “Now anybody can have what I have with you … you crossed the line.”
Despite the toxic energy and Magan’s seemingly genuine connection with Haley, Danya and Magan agreed to stay together at the end of the experiment, to the disappointment of many fans. They were still together at the reunion, though it’s not clear if they remained in a relationship after filming ended.
“Magan switched up on Haley just like that. Dayna is controlling and manipulative,” one person wrote on Instagram.
“Dayna and Meg have attachment issues that made them get into a co-dependent relationship,” another argued.
Magan says ‘The Ultimatum’ cast members are ‘real people with real feelings’
The Ultimatum: Queer Love fans weren’t shy about sharing their opinions on season’s 2 chaos. But Magan, who is at the center of much of the drama, wants viewers to remember that they are talking about real people.
“Reality TV is hard,” she said in the video she shared on Instagram. “There’s a certain level of vulnerability that not a lot of people can understand unless you’ve experienced it yourself.”
“Just a reminder that we are real people with real feelings. Everybody’s allowed to have their own opinion. But just be careful what you say, because some of these things are hurtful.”
Comments “ripping on people’s appearances” aren’t acceptable, she added. “You would not want to be spoken to like that.”
“Treat people how you want to be treated,” Magan added. “This was a hard experience for everybody, including myself. Just think about things before you say them.”
The Ultimatum: Queer Love Season 2 is streaming on Netflix.
