Karl Stefanovic loses it during live interview

A call for men to be completely banned from working in childcare centres has ignited a fierce debate on the Today show.

The proposal comes after sex crime detectives charged a man with child abuse offences while working at a childcare centre.

Joshua Dale Brown, 26, was accused of abusing eight children aged between five months and two years at a centre in Point Cook.

Today co-host Karl Stefanoic clashed with Louise Edmonds, who is advocating for a complete ban on male workers in the sector.

Sydney’s M7 closed after a truck burst into flames

A truck on fire has shut down one of Sydney’s busiest motorways.

The M7 remains closed southbound at Cecil Hills in the city’s south-west, two hours after the fiery scenes unfolded.

Footage from a passing motorist showed firefighters battling the massive inferno.

The truck driver managed to escape the vehicle unharmed.

It’s understood the truck was carrying a load of carpets.

Diversions remain in place via Elizabeth Drive and Cowpasture Road.

Motorists should consider using The Horsley Drive and Cowpasture Road, or Elizabeth Drive and Cowpasture Road to rejoin the M7 at Hinchinbrook.

Allow plenty of extra travel time as traffic is heavy in both directions.

Traffic delays extend past Hoxton Park Road.

Train chaos continues

Train services are still disrupted following an intense weather ‘bomb cyclone’.

Sydney commuters are urged to check before they travel and be prepared for delays.

Trains on the Central Coast to Newcastle line still weren’t running early on Thursday morning between Wyong and Fassifern due to overhead wiring repairs at Dora Creek.
