A Georgia woman allegedly was just a tick over the legal limit as she was driving a golf cart at a Florida country club when her husband fell off and later died.

Now 62-year-old Cynthia Mackin is facing a driving under the influence charge, jail records show. Sgt. Dominick Mesiti of the Port St. Lucie police told Treasure Coast Newspapers the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. Saturday near Astor Creek Golf & Country Club. Mackin was reportedly driving, as her husband Daniel Mackin was standing on the back of the cart.

“He fell off the back of the golf cart and struck his head,” Mesiti told the newspaper. “They were on a sidewalk going to another … location on the golf course.”

Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Cynthia Mackin allegedly had a blood alcohol content level of 0.09 — just above the legal limit of 0.08. Cops took her to the St. Lucie County Jail where she has since posted a $500 bond. The Mackins live in Greensboro, Georgia, which is roughly 75 miles east of Atlanta.

Deputies also reportedly arrested a second person — 37-year-old Justis Morrison — for obstruction. Mesiti said cops were trying to investigate the incident when Morrison reportedly interfered with them and was “yelling at the officers and telling the wife to not cooperate with the investigation.”

He also has since posted a $500 bond.
