Here’s why a lip-reading says Jeff Bezos was “frustrated” and “appalled” by fans in Venice, who turned out to see him and his bride.
Several A-List celebrities turned out in Venice, Italy, for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding. Seeing the rich and famous out and about led to excited fans around town trying to catch a glimpse of the couple and their guests.
And those onlookers couldn’t not notice the stream of water taxis coming and going through the canals for the multi-day affair. Now, a professional lip reader is revealing that although he was seen smiling and waving, Bezos told his bride that he wasn’t thrilled seeing all the fans gathered there.

Lip-reading expert observes Bezos telling Sánchez that he was ‘appalled’ by fans

Hickling shared with the Irish Star what she observed as Bezos saying as he politely waved and Sánchez blew kisses to the fans they passed by en route to the Madonna dell’Orto.
According to Hickling, Bezos whispered to Sánchez: “Turn this way, this is appalling. They’re making it impossible to enjoy the day when they do this.”
The lip reader then added, “Despite the cheerful expressions, his tone and words suggest frustration. The contrast between their smiles and the dialogue indicates they may be masking their true feelings for the cameras.”
Expert says Bezos ‘masked smiles’ following his wedding, while Sánchez was ‘elated’
Hickling seems to be on to something because a body language expert agreed that Bezos was “masking” his feelings more so than Sánchez.
Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and TV as a consultant and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.”
Speaking on behalf of OLBG, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “Jeff and Lauren appeared genuinely happy following their wedding celebrations – however, it’s clear that they have quite different personalities. Looking at pictures of them leaving Venice, Lauren seems to be a lot more extroverted in her personality compared to Jeff, who takes on a more relaxed approach. She has her arms in the air and seems genuinely elated to be sharing the experience with everyone. Overall, she comes across as quite giddy in her emotions.
“On the other hand, Jeff seems to be the quieter one in the relationship, and I noticed a couple of masking smiles coming from him as he waved from the boat. Not that he’s not happy and elated to be getting married, but he seems like more of a private person. He clearly doesn’t want to flaunt all his emotions and comes across as guarded. Although he is genuinely happy, he just seems to be a bit more introverted based on his body language.”
