Teen Mom’s real future revealed after Brittany DeJesus insists long-running show is officially canceled

TEEN Mom’s real future can be revealed after Brittany DeJesus told fans the show was officially canceled in a buried TikTok comment.

Multiple sources have told The U.S. Sun that despite Briana DeJesus’ sister’s assertion that the show is over, that’s not the case- at least not yet.

One Teen Mom source said: “It has not been canceled, everyone is still on a filming break.”

That insider added that while the cast is on break, they have not yet been told when filming will resume.

Meanwhile, another source close to production simply said it was “false” that the show was canceled.

That insider said that production has been waiting for the green light from MTV on a new season, but there has been no cancellation at this time.

As The U.S. previously reported, Briana DeJesus’ sister, Brittany, said in an emotional TikTok “I feel emotionally unstable today. Everything is making me cry.”

“Everything’s making me upset. People on the internet are f****** mean,” the Teen Mom: Next Chapter star added.

Brittany responded to a fan’s question about her financial situation and whether her sister, who is part of the main cast, would step in to support her.

Brittany responded: “I ain’t broke no more because I ended up getting my money and my sister doesn’t give me money, MTV gives me money LOL.

“But the show canceled, so bye, bye to those checks LMAO.”

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter recently concluded its second season on MTV, with cast members speculating that this might mark the end of the franchise.

The show originally debuted in 2009 as a spinoff of the hit series 16 & Pregnant.

According to an exclusive report from The U.S. Sun, MTV executives have allegedly been aware of when the beloved series would eventually come to a close.

“Show executives always planned for the show to end when the original kids turned 16,” a show insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

“This has been told to the cast for years. But who knows what the network will ultimately decide.”

SWEET 16

The children featured in the original 16 & Pregnant series include Bentley, the son of Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards; Leah, the daughter of Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley; and Carly, the daughter of Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra, who was placed for adoption in 2009.

Farrah Abraham’s daughter, Sophia, whose father Derek Underwood tragically passed away, is also considered one of the original kids, although they are no longer part of the series.

In 2011, MTV introduced a new group of 16 & Pregnant graduates, forming the Teen Mom 2 cast with Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, Kailyn Lowry, and Leah Messer.

Earlier this year, MTV marked the milestone of the older children turning 16 with a special photoshoot.

The original cast first appeared on Teen Mom in 2009, later transitioning to Teen Mom OG when the series returned in 2015.

In 2023, Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 were combined into a single series, Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, following a decline in ratings.

The current cast includes Briana DeJesus, Catelynn Lowell, Amber Portwood, Leah Messer, Mackenzie McKee, Cheyenne Floyd, Ashley Jones, and Jade Cline.

Amber has already announced that she won’t return for future seasons due to her ongoing struggles with mental health.

SHOW’S END IN SIGHT

Despite the latest from sources to The U.S. Sun, concerns are growing among cast members that this season may be the franchise’s last.

In April, a source told OK! Magazine, “The cast thinks the show may be canceled because there’s rumblings about that, but honestly, no one knows what’s going on.”

They added, “It’s been radio silent from production and, while that happened before, it seems… different this time.”

At the time, several cast members confirmed they hadn’t heard from production yet.

RATINGS STRUGGLE

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter has faced consistently low ratings in recent years.

The U.S. Sun reported that the January 30, 2025, premiere drew only 205,000 viewers, highlighting the show’s struggles to maintain its audience.

The season’s lowest-rated episode aired on February 6, bringing in just 184,000 viewers, while the highest-rated episode on March 13 managed to attract 267,000 viewers.

The most recent episode, which aired on May 8, drew 223,000 viewers.
