5 Must-Watch Netflix Shows in July 2025

Looking for a summer escape? Netflix has what it takes to keep you entertained when temperatures start to climb.

July 2025 brings a ton of new content to the streamer’s library. You can revisit small-town football drama when all five seasons of Friday Night Lights return to the service on July 1. Jaws and its sequels swim into the library on July 15. Romantic drama series Sullivan’s Crossing, quirky sketch comedy series Portlandia, and Starz’s mystery series Hightown will also be available to stream. And of course, there’s a new slate of Netflix originals on the horizon. Keep reading for Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s picks for must-watch Netflix shows in July 2025.

‘The Sandman’ Season 2

The second – and final – season of The Sandman finally hits Netflix this July, nearly three years after season 1 debuted. The 12 episodes will drop in three batches and wrap up the story of Dream (Tom Sturridge), who faces one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the fallout of his past misdeeds.

The Sandman Season 2 Episodes 1-6 release on July 3. Episode 7-11 drop on July 24th. Episode 12 releases on July 31.

‘The Gringo Hunters’

An elite team of Mexican cops hunt “bad hombres” from north of the border in this inspired-by-a-true-story series. (It’s adapted from a 2022 report in The Washington Post.) The members of the International Liaison Unit face mysteries, suspense, twists, and turns as they are tasked with tracking down American fugitives on the run in Mexico.

The show deliberately challenges “this cliché or idea that Mexico can be a lawless land, where you can escape if you’ve committed a crime,” producer Stacy Perskie told El País. “It’s interesting that there’s this team that proves otherwise and is dedicated to capturing them and returning them to face the consequences of their crimes.”

The Gringo Hunters premieres July 9.

‘Building the Band’

Netflix mixes the traditional talent competition format with dating series Love Is Blind in Building the Band. The reality series features talented singers vying for a chance to form the next great music group. But they’ll have to find their perfect bandmate without ever meeting face to face. AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys hosts, and Nicole Scherzinger serves as a mentor and judge. Guest judges include Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne. (Payne filmed the show not long before his death in October 2024.)

Building the Band premieres July 9 with episodes 1-4. Episodes 5-7 drop on July 16, and episodes 8-10 premiere on July 23.

‘Too Much’

Can Lena Dunham recapture the magic that made Girls a hit in the 2010s? She’s the co-creator and writer of the new rom-com series Too Much, which stars Megan Stalter as Jessica, a New Yorker who flees to London after a painful breakup with the goal of living out her Love, Actually fantasies in real life. Once in the U.K., she connects with slacker indie musician Felix (Will Sharpe). The impressive cast also includes Rhea Perlman, Stephen Fry, Andrew Scott, Rita Wilson, Andrew Rannells, and Richard E. Grant.

Too Much premieres July 10.

‘Untamed’

You might find yourself rethinking your summer vacation plans after watching Untamed, a mystery-thriller set in Yosemite National Park. Eric Bana plays an agent investigating a brutal murder in the iconic California park in the six-episode limited series. As he works to enforce human laws in the wilderness, he’s set on a collision course with his own past. Sam Neill plays the park’s head ranger, and Naya Vasquez plays a rookie park ranger who is more accustomed to life in the city.

Untamed premieres July 17.
