Brandy, 46, and Monica, 44, collaborated on the hit track and it was released as the lead single for both of their albums of the same name which were titled as Never Say Never.

After the release in 1998, the track became the biggest-selling song of the year in the U.S, selling over 2.6million copies.

It also spent 13 weeks in the top position on the official Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song went international, reaching the top of the charts in Canada, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

Now, the pair reunited as they were welcomed into the CBS Mornings studio by Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Vladimir Duthiers.

As they promoted their new upcoming collaboration, both of the stars also addressed the previous controversies.

Monica told the hosts that the pair didn’t actually really know each other back then and they had only recently reopened the lines of communication to embark on this new project.

“We created the communication and the relationship to do it 1750795406. It’s a musical marriage,” she admitted.

“When you start to go on a tour, especially of this calibre, we have to talk about everything, and with verses, for example, that was our first time seeing each other in years.

The singer added: “Yeah, so there was no conversation. We weren’t able to do what it is that we do now, which is really learn each other.

When Gayle, 70, asked about their long-standing and highly-publicised feud, the pair addressed the controversy head on.

Brandy declared: “It really started from nothing.”

Her co-star then decided to fully weigh into the conversation as she continued: “It did turn into something.

The reason that I was so insistent that we communicate directly is that you take all of the peanut gallery out of the conversation

She admitted that she thought the reason behind their arguments was actually more to do with the huge entourages and personalities they were surrounded by at the time.

“The reason that I was so insistent that we communicate directly is that you take all of the peanut gallery out of the conversation,” Monica stated.

“People’s opinion, because that makes it more difficult. So if there’s something to discuss, we discuss it amongst each other, and then we say what happens together.”

She added: “And that just eliminates any confusion. There was a lot of confusion and conflict, and there was a lot of people around.”

The former Cinderella star then interjected as she quipped: “The song didn’t help either! We were fighting over all that.”

Referring to their hit song, Monica then couldn’t help but joke: “And we don’t even like the same type of boy,” leaving the whole studio in hysterics.
