A five-month-old baby had to be taken to hospital after two e-scooter riders sprayed a fire extinguisher into a car on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

At about 7.50pm that day, a Silver Suzuki Vitara was driving along High Street at Sippy Downs when two unknown people approached the car on e-scooters.

The pair discharged a fire extinguisher into the car before fleeing.

A 29-year-old male driver, and a five-month-old baby girl, sustained minor injuries.

The girl’s mother told 9News the child had to be taken to hospital to have her eyes washed out with saline.

The fire extinguisher believed to have been used in the attack was found nearby on Stringybark Road, Sippy Downs.

Investigators are appealing to residents and businesses who were in the area between 7.30pm and 8.20pm that day, and who may have relevant information, CCTV, or dashcam vision, to contact police.
