Kelly Ripa Teases Mark Consuelos and Orlando Bloom As They Chat About Cold Plunges On ‘Live’: “I Think You Both Have A Screw Loose”

The cold plunge is not for the faint of heart, but it certainly can bond two people.

Orlando Bloom sat down with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on Thursday’s Live with Kelly and Mark, where he talked of his pursuit of an adrenaline rush.

“I mean, I did this show [Orlando Bloom:] To The Edge, actually, where I learned to… skydive, wingsuit, [and] free dive,” he shared, referring to the three-part Peacock docuseries that was released in April 2024.

After the Deep Cover star said that he “went wingsuiting in 38 jumps,” which even he acknowledged was “crazy,” Ripa asked, “Who insures you for movies? That’s what I want to know.”

Bloom explained, “I found that the adrenaline junkie is actually supreme athletes… They just have a fear thing where they don’t have — and I kind of have a little bit of that, where I’m not really too afraid to really throw myself in.”

Viewers then caught footage of Bloom “heliboarding.”

“You jump out of a helicopter, get to the top of a mountain, and then you —,” he said, as the video showed Bloom snowboarding.

As she saw the clip, Ripa replied, “Oh no, no, no, no.”

Bloom shared, “That’s just the best feeling in the world. If you can ever do that.”

Consuelos asked, “Have you ever engaged a mini avalanche when you’ve gone heli-skiing?”

Bloom admitted that he’s “come close,” but noted that you wear these backpacks” that you can “pull,” like a parachute, and “it blows up.”

“So it takes you to the top is the idea,” he added.

Consuelos teased, “In theory, it works, right?”

Bloom quipped, “Thankfully I haven’t had too much of that.”

Ripa chimed in, “I mean, that’s really scary.”

However, Consuelos claimed the “scariest thing” Bloom does is something that they both do: the cold plunge.

Bloom joked, “Well, that’s just psycho, but it’s a great form of psycho. I love it.”

As a clip of Bloom taking a cold plunge played on screen, the Pirates of the Caribbean alum inquired as to whether Consuelos fully submerges himself underwater.

“Three minutes with a head under?” he asked.

After Consuelos revealed that he puts his head underwater for “six minutes,” Bloom quipped, “Oh, he’s a six-minute man.”

Consuelos conceded, “But I heard six minutes is too long. You should only do three minutes.”

Bloom told Consuelos, “You know, whatever makes you feel good. It really adjusts the head, though.”

Though Consuelos agreed that “it does,” Ripa could not relate.

“No, no, no. I think you both have a screw loose,” she teased.

While some laughter erupted from the audience, Bloom and Consuelos continued bonding over their shared practice of the cold plunge.

“Look at this man!” Bloom eventually exclaimed of Consuelos. “He’s in the best shape of his life.”
