Shawn Dearing is a former escort who allegedly attended “more than a dozen” of Combs’ freak offs. Dearing said Ventura was also present, and he watched the “tone” of the freak offs change over time.
“I just would say overall, the tone was a little darker towards the last times I’d seen them,” Dearing told People, adding, “I got to see the dark side of things.”
Dearing said he noticed the biggest change in Ventura. He claimed she was trying to “perform” for Combs.
“It was more of a ‘doing this to please him’ type of spirit overall,” he said. “I can tell when the energy was different.”
Ventura testified during the trial that she was involved in the freak offs because of threats from Combs. Dearing said he picked up on this.
“In my opinion, in that situation, she didn’t know if this was a beast she could control or not anymore,” he said. “So she was along for the ride, because she had to, because who knows? Who knows where this beast is going, and there’s no way to tame it.”
Dearing said he thought Ventura was caught in the dark energy.
“It was evil … and she was under that.”
