A food delivery rider has been hospitalised after a random attack in Melbourne’s south-east.

The 25-year-old was stabbed in the arm before his e-scooter was stolen last night while riding along a Carnegie path.

“He said someone jumped out from the darkness, stabbed him several times,” a witness told 9News.

“I said, ‘How many, where?’ He said, ‘I don’t know’.”

“The guy was pretty rattled. He was pretty freaked out.”

Locals rushed to help as the thug took off on his e-scooter.

The Murrumbeena man needed surgery on his arm.

Police searched the area into the night.

The crime scene has been cleared, but police are still hunting the man behind the attack.

They say he fled towards Murrumbeena station and they’re looking through CCTV in the area.
