A teenager has died and three members of his family have been seriously injured after two cars collided in Sydney’s south-west.

Police were called to the intersection of the Hume Highway and Worth Street in Greenacre following reports of a two-car crash at 8.10pm yesterday.

A truck and a hatchback crashed into each other, with a 16-year-old passenger of the hatchback dying at the scene.

The second passenger, believed to be a boy, was treated by paramedics before he was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the car, a woman, was also treated by paramedics and taken to the same hospital in a critical condition.

A third passenger, a man, was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The truck driver has been taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established, and an investigation into the crash is underway.

The Hume Highway was previously closed, but it has just reopened.
