A Florida man was charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly fatally stabbed a popular stylist in a parking garage where she was waiting for a friend.

According to an arrest report reviewed by Law&Crime, police responded to a 911 call during the early morning hours of May 28 from a man who said he had been stabbed in the neck by another man at an apartment complex in Sunrise. When police arrived, they found the caller, as well as the unresponsive body of his friend, 27-year-old Hailey Hosford. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

After reviewing surveillance video and speaking to witnesses, police apprehended Jackson Sagesse, 21, at the home of his mother. The arrest report stated that he reportedly told police after he was read his rights, “I just killed someone and walked away.”

The arrest report detailed a haunting timeline of events beginning with the black sedan that carried Hosford and an unnamed male friend as they entered the parking garage at the Retreat apartment building. Approximately one minute after the car parked and the male friend left, Sagesse was seen entering the frame and approaching the car.

Police said that Sagesse could be seen carrying “a metallic object … in his right hand, reflecting light.” He reportedly walked alongside the passenger side of the car before leaving the frame.

One minute after that, Hosford was seen opening the door of the back seat on the passenger side before spotting Sagesse, who came back around the car from the driver’s side. According to police, she “quickly re-enter[ed] the vehicle in an apparent attempt to hide.”

Sagesse then allegedly forced the door back open and attacked Hosford. Police wrote that a “stabbing motion [was] visible on video.”

According to the arrest report, the friend returned, and a physical altercation between him and Sagesse ensued. The friend was allegedly stabbed by Sagesse, but was able to run away to call for help. Sagesse then went to the driver’s side of the car and sat in the seat, started the car, but ultimately was not able to move it. He got out of the car and “appear[ed] to search the ground for potential evidence.”
