Indiana Mother Shoots Man Trying to Rape Her 12-Year-Old Daughter: Reports

An Indianapolis mother reportedly shot a man she found on top of her daughter, 12, attempting to rape her in a hotel room.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that on May 24, at the Baymont Inn on Eagle View Drive, Bruce Pierce, 39, was critically injured when he was shot, according to WEAU.

Pierce and the woman who shot him were at the hotel together when her daughter showed up with a family friend. It is believed the mother left her daughter alone in the room for a moment to retrieve items from the car. When the mom returned to the room, she found Pierce on top of her child forcibly trying to remove her clothes.

Court documents say the mother yelled at Pierce and then shot at him multiple times. They also say Pierce had a gun in his hand at the time of the alleged assault.

The mother and daughter left the scene and called 911. They later returned once law enforcement had arrived.

Pierce was taken to the Eskenazi Hospital for treatment, according to WGME.

WGME reports that a warrant has been issued for Pierce’s arrest, who was last seen on Tuesday morning at the Regal 8 Inn on West Washington Street in Indianapolis.

Pierce had prior convictions in 2016 for child molestation. He is listed as a “Sexually Violent Predator,” according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Fox 59, Pierce’s charges are listed as attempted rape, a Level 1 felony; attempted child molestation, a Level 1 felony; unlawful possession of a firearm, a Level 4 felony; and confinement, a Level 5 felony.
