The recall notice said a manufacturing defect could allow moisture to enter the internal circuit board of the reverse lamps, meaning they might not light up when the car is in reverse.

The rear-view camera may also become activated while driving.

The Tundra sells from a starting price of $159,990.

“If the traffic behind is unable to identify if the vehicle is reversing, it could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the notice read.

Toyota will contact owners of the affected cars to advise them of the recall, and will contact them again later when parts are available.

When that happens, owners will be able to make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer to fix the issue, free of charge.
