Young girl, 8, fights for life after being hit by a car at Hornsby Heights

A young girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Sydney’s north today.

Emergency services were called to Somerville Road, Hornsby Heights, about 10.40am on Sunday following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Officers attached to Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command arrived to find an 8-year-old girl unconscious on the road after being hit by a Holden SUV.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the girl at the scene. 

She was then driven to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

The driver of the SUV was uninjured and taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the incident.

Inquiries remain ongoing.

Traffic has been slowed on the main road.
